Preparing your home for the photoshoot can be stressful. With our Getting Ready Guide, we make it simple!

Tips to Getting Your Home Photo Ready

This list is not the end all be all - it is meant to be used as a guide to help you prepare for shoot day. The more you can do the better but we understand that moving is a stressful and time consuming job. Before we shoot, we will do a walkthrough and spend around 10-15 minutes making sure everything looks good for photos.

General

  • Deep clean and declutter the entire home
  • Remove a pet items such as bowls, toys, and beds
  • Put away family photos, personal achievements, seasonal decor, etc
  • Replace burnt out light bulbs
  • Living, Kitchen & Dining

  • Declutter coffee, dining, and end tables
  • Straighten couch pillows and blankets
  • Remove dishes, dish racks, soaps & sponges from sink area
  • Remove excessive appliances and other clutter from countertops
  • Remove magnets & notes from refrigerator as well as anything on top
  • Bedrooms & Bathrooms

  • Remove all non decorative toiletries from countertops & showers
  • Remove all used body towels and straighten hand towels
  • Clean countertops, mirrors, showers & tubs
  • Declutter the tops of dressers, nighstands, and desks
  • Make the beds
  • Front & Back Exteriors

  • Touch up landscaping: trim bushes and mow/edge lawn
  • Clear away yard toys, roll up visible hoses, and put away flags
  • Consider cleaning windows if visibly dirty
  • Consider pressure washing home/concrete
  • Shoot Day

  • Turn overhead lights on, fans and lamps off
  • Pull blinds up & open curtains
  • Turn off devices such as TVs & computer screens
  • Make sure toilet lids are down
  • Remove trash cans and cars from driveway; Close garage doors
